A journey through tradition
1920
Our family ceramic factory was founded in the town of Breda, Girona, in 1920 by José Planas, with the aim of satisfying the needs of the region: to manufacture refractory clay pots for cooking and pots for storing food.
1948
In 1948, Joan Planas continued with the family business by adding the electric potter’s wheel, the rotary wheel, the biscuit press, the wood-fired kiln and the gas-oil kiln.
Later, Jordi Planas, who learned the potter’s trade with his father, incorporated new decorative elements in traditional ceramics, such as colors and prints.
2000
In 2000, Cerámica Planas moved to the current factory to meet the larger market demand and to open two new production lines: tableware and earthenware packaging for the food industry.
From 2005, Jordi Planas creates the new line of food packaging and expands internationally.
Nowadays
Currently, we are working the 3rd and 4th generation bringing the development of new knowledge to the company, in order to consolidate as a 4.0 company to offer our customers the digitized control of ceramics and optimal quality standards.
